What can a Ram ProMaster ('14-26) actually tow?
The rating is the easy half of the answer. A trailer never weighs its brochure dry weight — water is 8.34 lb a gallon, propane and batteries ride along, and so does your gear — and hundreds of models changed their published weights mid-run, so the model year decides as much as the model. Judged that way, with a 10% margin and 2 people aboard: 1362 of 5150 campers fit a Ram ProMaster, and 24 more fit if you buy the right years.
The number that quietly binds is payload — 4,680 lb (159" wheelbase extended-length cargo van - Ram's published maximum projected payload; this is not the same build that carries the 6,910-lb tow rating): tongue weight lands on the rear axle with your passengers and the hitch, so a vehicle often runs out of payload well before it runs out of rating.
1603 fifth wheels are excluded outright: a fifth-wheel hitch mounts in a pickup bed, and the Ram ProMaster has none — at any rating.
Loaded estimate: dry weight + full fresh tank + propane, battery and gear for 2. Headroom is against the rating less 10%.
These changed their published weights mid-run: some model years clear a Ram ProMaster, others don't. A listing site treats them as one trailer. They aren't.
